Gabbeh
This is a visualization I designed in 2019 for Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s Gabbeh, reimagining the film itself as its main leitmotif.

Gabbeh is a traditional Persian carpet variety. Gabbeh (1996) is also a movie directed by Mohsen Makhmalbaf, in which Gabbeh is both the name of the main character and a recurring leitmotif.
I transformed the film itself into a carpet by arranging all the frames into a single image, preserving their chronological sequence from start to finish. The film begins in the upper left corner of the carpet and ends in the bottom right. This visualization highlights the use of color and the length of scenes relative to the entire film.
There are 104,575 frames in total.
